Tops

What started with a number of Plurks and Twitter messages, snowballed into what you see above.

I now have in my hands a very tasty E71 Steel White which I shamelessly lined up next to my equally tasty white iPhone 16GB!

Bottoms

Alright I know you want details. So here it goes!

I Plurked and Twittered that I was looking to move on from my battered and beloved E61. I then shared that I was deliberating between an iPhone or an E71. I was almost going to shell out the $400ish for the E71, when I decided instead to go with the iPhone. My last minute change of heart was due to my need of getting access to all my web content away from the computer. I also wanted to see what the iPhone fuss was all about and how it was supposed to be a great “media consumption” device.

The lovely people at Nokia and Text 100, decided this cannot be and decided to loan me an E71 to prove to me that I made the wrong choice! How nice of them? Heh-heh.

Decisions, decisions and decisions!

I have to say the Industrial Design of the E71 does holds its own and managed to even stir up a studio filled with Apple/iPhone hugging designers. Now that is cool. Designer peer pressure anyone? So what do you guys think?

Behold The Ocarina! The First Musical Instrument for the iPhone.

Check out this amazing iPhone application, called Ocarina, that has currently got all of us in stitches or in awe! I have come across Guitar and Drum applications or simulations for the iPhone, but this has to take the cake! To get it to work, the program requires you to blow into the iPhone microphone thus turning your iPhone into a “true musical instrument”. Not only that, the software takes advantage of the iPhone’s accelerometer to control the depth (front to back) and rate (side to side) at which your music is produced!

Ocarina is the first true musical instrument created for the iPhone. Both experts and beginners will be amazed by this innovative player. Ocarina is sensitive to your breath, touch and movements, making it even more versatile than the original. Unlike other musical applications, there are no pre-compiled riffs so musicians will find unlimited opportunities for self-expression. Advanced options allow you to choose between diatonic, minor and harmonic scales. Or channel your favorite video game adventurer with Smule’s Zeldarian mode.
