Slight Pause in Blogging for Some Site Maintenance

Announcements
Mar 17, 2007

Sorry for the slight slow down in the blogging in the last and next few days. I have been doing some massive site maintenance, here at Design Sojourn, IDAsia.org and at my family’s blog, so apologies if things looked a little wonky.

I’ve have been upgrading all the Wordpress sites to the latest Version 2.1.2, had to go through and update all the plugins, and check all the different template’s compatibility with the new release. So far so good, this custom template is doing well and behaving itself. Good work Aen. But I do have my fingers cross that nothing crashes.

Thanks to Aen’s article on the list of compatible plug-ins.

Lone Ranger I am Not

Since I moved to Sydney, I have experienced a state of mind that most designers who become freelancers or decide to go at it on their own as an entrepreneur would. This state of mind is the loss of interaction with other designers. This loss of bubbling creativity commonly found in a design studio environment, or in other words the loss of the ability to bounce ideas back and forth that makes doing design solo so difficult. So much so that many designers who are unaware of this cannot understand why their work suffers.

Spring Cleaning Time

It’s fast approaching Chinese New Year and its tradition for us Chinese to do some massive spring cleaning of our homes. Here at Design Sojourn it is no different. I’m currently updating categories, reorganizing chicklets and tweaking CSS, so please do excuse the odd hick-up you may experience while visiting. Also together with a few of my design datelines coming up, blogging will slow a little as well. If you like, you can subscribe with your RSS feed reader or by email so you’ll know right away if there is anything new? All you have to do is just click on the buttons on sidebar to your right –>

2007 will be big year for Design Sojourn

Announcements
Jan 06, 2007

Dear readers, I need to first apologize for the lack of postings here at Design Sojourn. This is simply because in the last few weeks I have been busy to the point of exhaustion. Before I can explain why, let me wish you all a big belated Happy New Year! Now as we all settle into the new year, I can finally breath a sigh of relieve and give you a special treat by telling you why.

I would like to share with you 3 huge events that are in the pipeline for Design Sojourn. Other than the usual perennial pillar favorites “How to be a better designer” and “Design Theory“, these events, something that I have been nursing for the last 3-4 months, will likely become the mainstay discussion points here on this blog.
