Hi Atlanta Computer Repairs,

That is a very interesting problem. I supposed they had to balance this with battery life.

Thanks for stopping by and please keep in touch?

I use a Kindle almost daily. I do onsite computer repair, and oftentimes I'll be stuck on a far side of town and have the opportunity to use the Kindle to read over lunch or whatever. It truly is an amazing device. Of course it would be nice if they had a backlight, attaching a light to the thing when I'm reading at night just is pretty durn weird.

In the last couple of years much of the consumer products was really about humanizing technology, or making it easier to use. The reality was much of the technology has been sitting around for a while, but it remained in the realm of the Geeks.

For the technology to become main stream, on of the issues that needed to be resolved is the interfacing between tangible humans and intangiable digital media. Replicating the analogue in digital.

Apple has done a fine job of this fact, because they understand this. Sadly many companies have yet to figure this out.

I don't know how I feel about this honestly. Being a design student, any new gadget that comes along, I immediately get excited about the potential that it has for the future.

However, the Newsweek quote which quotes books as being the 'last bastion of analog' kinda hits a nerve, being one who grew up amongst a lot of books...yes my parents encouraged reading a lot.

I'll have to read up more, but the only concern I have are the comparisons of keeping books as books and the adoption of the Amazon Kindle from an eco standpoint.

From a design standpoint, I guess, for the Kindle to be successful, maybe it has too capture the 'tangible experience' of reading a book eg. the whole progression of starting from page one and the sense of completion when you reach the end...maybe reading a book is not just all about the story but also the experience??? I don't know...I'm babbling on...
