Hi Drew,

Yes that was a difficult chart to understand, and spoked about terms not commonly used. I'm glad that it has cleared things up!

Hi all,

Sorry for the late reply.

Basically the difference between Strategic and Tactical is simply the Strategy is the objective and how to go about achieving it. Tactical is the means to go about it.

So if you refer to the chart, let’s consider the following example. Let’s say my objective is to create a successful website and make money from it. Then my first strategy is for a merger, i.e. to ultimately get bought out by Yahoo and Google. That’s tough, so I keep it as a long term strategy. Short term I need money to survive so I do this by providing great content that I get reader's "attention and trust". Going forward what do I do to get the money?

So my tactics can be, I can advertise with Ad Sense, or I create a product that people buy, or get people to pay to subscribe to my highly trustworthy newsletter etc.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is you can’t just setup a website and smack on a few ads and hope to make money. You need a strategy. Does this help clear things up?
